Accountex, London’s ExCel
Last week the A Wilson Accounting team took time out from the office to visit Accountex at London’s ExCel. Accountex is the UK’s biggest accountancy exhibition, welcoming over 6,500 attendees every year.
The stands were diverse but with Cloud based software being the main focus across the exhibition. You could feel the excitement and anticipation of the pending shift to the fundamental way in which accountants work. Everything becoming more streamlined and remotely accessible.
Will accountants become redundant after the digital shift? Not a chance!
Now is the time to offer more to the client, assess your practice and move with the times! With that in mind we utilized our time well, attending many inspirational talks, including an insightful talk from Mark Wickersham, #1 best-selling author and Chartered Accountant, on Value Pricing. We also attended John Hale’s talk about Pension Schemes from NEST. Ian Fletcher, from 2020 Innovation, gave an entertaining but very informative talk about the opportunities and threats of Making Tax Digital and Jane Aylwin opened our eyes to the benefits of GoCardless and Receipt Bank as useful accountancy tools.
Throughout the exhibition there were many live product demonstrations, allowing us to ask specific questions about chosen software and open our minds to potential new opportunities.
At A Wilson Accounting we are passionate about gaining as much knowledge as we can about the software options available to our clients, enabling us to give informed and knowledgeable advice. Xero, Quickbooks Online and Taxfiler were but a few of the stands we visited. (We may have also visited the cocktail stand but hey, needs must during a busy day!)
Needless to say we will definitely be attending next years’ Accountex, but in the meantime why not take a look at the highlights from this years’…..
